Hozzy is an innovative personal finance management app created by a two-person development team using Kanban methodology in GitHub Projects. Our goal was to design an intuitive tool that helps users clearly track expenses, plan budgets, and achieve savings goals. The project is continuously being developed and enhanced with new features.

App Vision

Hozzy aims to be a comprehensive solution for people wanting to better manage their household budget. The project combines a clear interface with advanced analytical features, allowing users not just to track spending but also understand their financial habits and make more informed decisions. The app is available across multiple platforms, providing a consistent experience on both mobile devices and web version.

Project Team

The project is developed by a two-person team where I serve as the UX/UI Designer, responsible for creating the interface, usability testing, and maintaining visual consistency throughout the application. My team partner (developer) handles functionality implementation and backend integration. One of my main challenges was creating a clear, intuitive and user-friendly interface. I focused on designing smooth navigation and an attractive visual layer that remains functional and user-friendly.

Work Organization

We organize our work using Kanban methodology in GitHub Projects. Through regular sync meetings and clear task division, we maintain a smooth development process. Each new feature goes through a full development cycle, starting from the design stage, through implementation, to internal testing.

Key Features

The app allows users to create and edit custom spending categories, enabling full personalization to individual needs. We implemented a 50/30/20 budget rule system that helps with rational financial management. Additionally, users can add household members and create fictional users, which particularly helps with managing other people's budgets (e.g., family members). Special attention was given to the analytics module, which presents users' financial situation in an easy-to-understand way through clear charts and visualizations.

Challenges And Solutions

The main project challenge was creating a consistent interface that works well in both web and mobile versions while remaining easy to use yet offering advanced analytical features. We solved this by progressively disclosing more complex functions, allowing users to gradually discover the app's capabilities. We created a consistent design system working across platforms with intuitive navigation adapted to each version. We combined RWD (Responsive Web Design) with AWD (Adaptive Web Design) to ensure optimal experience on all devices.

Results

So far we've successfully created a working MVP version of the app, which forms a solid foundation for further development. Currently, we're focusing on expanding functionality and improving existing solutions.

Summary

The Hozzy project has been valuable experience in developer-designer collaboration and creating a multiplatform application. It showed me how important it is to balance innovation with usability when designing financial solutions. Our team is currently focused on expanding key functionalities including the financial analytics panel, transaction management system, and savings goals module. Further app development concentrates on improving existing features and adding new sections to ultimately create a comprehensive household budget management tool that genuinely helps users achieve their financial goals.
